Volunteers needed for new Macmillan cancer support service

 

Volunteers are being sought to help run a new cancer support service in Caerphilly County Borough from charity Macmillan.

A core group of volunteers has already signed up to help people affected by cancer with practical tasks such as shopping, dog walking, cleaning and laundry, but Macmillan Cancer Support is looking to recruit more.

Improved bus service for Newbridge

 

Bus company Stagecoach has announced changes to its services between Newbridge and Blackwood.

From January 23, passengers from Pantside, Newbridge, will be able to travel through to Blackwood without changing buses.

Stagecoach is combining Routes 5 and N1 into a new service operating between Blackwood, Oakdale, Croespenmaen, Crumlin, Newbridge and Pantside.

Bargoed petrol station owner convicted of selling fake cigarettes

 

A petrol station owner has been ordered to pay more than £7,000 for selling fake cigarettes.

Manickavasgar Kirupananthan, the owner of the Total Bargoed Service Station at Gwerthnor Place in Bargoed, was prosecuted for supplying counterfeit Benson and Hedges Gold cigarettes.
