Drug advice service for youngsters looking for new name

 

An advice service which helps youngsters having problems with drink and drugs is looking for a new name.

Run by the charity Crime Reduction Initiatives, the CRI Caerphilly and Blaenau Gwent Young Person’s Substance Misuse Service is calling on local youngsters to come up with new name and win an iPod shuffle.

The number of police officers in Gwent has fallen by 31 in one year, new figures reveal.

Gwent Police, as of September 2011, has 1,477 officers, compared to 1,508 in September 2010.

Bargoed cinema plans set to get go-ahead

 

Councillors are set to agree plans to fund a £5million cinema and retail development in Bargoed town centre.

Members on Caerphilly County Borough Council’s cabinet will be recommended next Tuesday to agree to the authority building a cinema for lease to a national operator.

A Bedwas pub that was shut down by police has been told to improve before it can reopen.

Gwent Police was called to the White Hart Inn, in Church Street, on Saturday January 7 following an incident and made a closure order under the Licensing Act – meaning the pub had to shut immediately.
