Blackwood Wetherspoon pub fined £8,400 for accident
![]() | National pub chain company JD Wetherspoon has been fined more than £8,400 after an accident at its pub in Blackwood. In March last year at The Sirhowy, in High Street, a member of staff suffered heavy bruising when pots of paint fell on him through a plasterboard ceiling. Thirteen large pots, with varying amounts of paint in them, were being stored on the suspended ceiling when they crashed through the plasterboard and on to the staff member. |

A farmer has been ordered to pay more than £8,000 after he illegally chopped down trees. David Terence Jones, of Penyrheol Las Farm, ignored an enforcement notice issued by Forestry Commission Wales to replant nearly 1.5 hectares of woodland on his land at Coed y Brain, in Llanbradach. |

Islwyn MP Don Touhig has pledged to back a proposed new law banning under 18s from using sunbeds. Mr Touhig has pledged to support a Private Member’s Bill, introduced by Cardiff North MP Julie Morgan, to ensure that children are no longer able to put their health at risk by using a sunbed. |
