Four traders from Caerphilly County Borough have been accepted into a scheme to help tackle rogue traders.

The Government-endorsed South East Wales Trustmark Scheme helps people find reputable businesses to carry out work in their home by providing a list of approved traders.

Bedwas firm fined £100,000 for worker’s death

 

The brother of a dead factory worker has spoken out after a Bedwas-based company was prosecuted for his death.

Hydro Aluminium Extrusion Ltd, based on the Pantglas Industrial Estate, in Bedwas, was fined a total of £100,000 and ordered to pay costs of £13,375 at Durham Crown Court after the Health and Safety Executive decided to prosecute.

Gwent Police to get £72,000 from Proceeds of Crime Act

Gwent Police is to get a share of £7.9million seized from criminals under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

As part of this quarter’s share, covering October 2009 to December 2009, the force is to get £72,870.92.

Stuart Boydell from Caerphilly joined winners from across Wales at a recent special awards ceremony at the Senedd in Cardiff to pick up his prize.

Newbridge boxing champion Joe Calzaghe has apologised after being caught admitting to cocaine use in a tabloid newspaper sting.

The former world middleweight and light-heavyweight champion made the apology following the admission to an undercover reporter from the News of the World.
