Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Schools Catering Service celebrate their award success.

Staff from Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Schools Catering Service swapped their aprons for their best outfits to collect a top award.

The Caerphilly team received recognition for their hard work at the recent LACA Awards, when they were presented with the highly acclaimed Welsh Catering Management Team Award.

Crowds celebrate Caerphilly’s Welsh heritage

Caerphilly residents of all ages attended a special event last week to celebrate the town’s proud heritage in the run up to St David’s Day.

The event, on Friday, was organised to mark the anniversary of two of the county borough’s most historic occasions, the 60th anniversary of the National Eisteddfod being held in Caerphilly and the birth of Evan James, the poet who composed the words to the Welsh National Anthem.

The Eisteddfod was held in Caerphilly in 1950, and was an important occasion because it was the first time that the ‘All-Welsh Rule’ came into use.

A charity shop in Caerphilly is looking for more volunteers after its runaway success in attracting customers.

The success of the Cancer Research Wales shop in Castle Court Shopping Centre has seen it raise more than £30,000 since opening its doors in October last year.
