Fire chiefs believe a recent fire at a rugby club could have been the result of an arson attack.

Firefighters from Caerphilly Fire Station were called at 8pm to Senghenydd Rugby Club on Friday last week.

Improved young readers rewarded for hard work

Nine youngsters from Caerphilly County Borough have been rewarded for their hard work and success in reading.

Secondary schools from the county borough were invited to nominate their ‘Most Improved Boy Readers’ in Years 7 and 8, for an event run by the Schools Library Service.

The latest event in the Cheese and Crime series will be held on Tuesday April 13, from 4pm until 6.30pm, at Lewis School,in Pengam.

Caerphilly Council to charge for wheelie bins & bulk waste

 

Caerphilly County Borough Council is to introduce charges for new wheelie bins and bulk waste collections.

A service charge of £15 for the collection of between one and three bulky household items, such as sofas, and £20 for the collection of four to six items will now apply.
