Woman admits hiding baby in Pengam home

 

A 30-year-old woman has admitted hiding her dead newborn baby in the attic of her Pengam home.

Caerphilly Magistrates’ Court was told that Maxine Davies, of Cwmcarn Road, Pontywaun, hid her pregnancy from family and friends and panicked when the newborn baby was not moving or breathing.

World’s oldest football coach Ivor Powell retires at 93

 
Bargoed-born football coach Ivor Powell has retired from the game aged 93

A Bargoed-born football coach, believed to be the world’s oldest, has hung up his boots at the rip old age of 93.

Mr Powell, who has worked as a coach at the University of Bath for the last 37 years, has seen a remarkable career that included playing for Wales, Blackpool, Queen’s Park Rangers and Aston Villa.
