Wayne David has been the Member of Parliament for Caerphilly since June 2001.

In October 2008 he was appointed the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State in the Wales Office. Before this appointment he was a Government Whip for the Department for Work and Pensions and the Wales Office.

Mr David has lived in the South Wales Valleys all his life and has a long-standing interest in developing links with Poland and Bulgaria.

Before being elected an MP he worked for the Youth Service in Caerphilly and had special responsibility for supporting voluntary youth organisations like the YMCA.

For 10 years he was a Member of the European Parliament for South Wales and was leader of the Labour Group. He also played a key role in securing Objective 1 funding for West Wales and the Valleys.
