Irene James was first elected to the Assembly in May 2003.
She currently serves on the Special Assembly Procedure Committee, the Health, Wellbeing and Local Government Committee and the Audit Committee.
Mrs James is a member of the Transport and General Workers Union.
Her main political interests include education, the NHS and job creation.
