Caerphilly AM Jeff Cuthbert.

Jeff Cuthbert has been the Welsh Assembly Member for Caerphilly since 2003.

He studied at University College Cardiff, now Cardiff University, where he was president of the students’ union and graduated with an honours degree in Mining Engineering.

Before his election he worked for exam board the Welsh Joint Education Committee (WJEC) as the head of the Asset to Industry Unit, working on the development of vocational and industrial qualifications and standards.

In the current Assembly term he serves on the newly formed Enterprise and Learning scrutiny committee, European and External Affairs committee and chairs the Standards of Conduct committee, which governs the Assembly Members code of conduct.

He has been a member of the Labour Party since 1967 and decribes himself as an active Trade Unionist.
