Caerphilly MP Wayne David invites Lib Dem rival to join Labour
Wayne David, Labour MP for Caerphilly, has written to his Liberal Democrat General Election opponent to join Labour.
He has written to Mrs Kay David (no relation) to leave the Liberal Democratic Party and to join instead the Labour Party.
Mr Davis told her that although the two had disagreements during the course of the General Election campaign, he nevertheless believes that she is someone who cares “about fairness”.
He also said that he is sure that Kay David would be “extremely concerned” about the actions of the Conservative-led Government to increase VAT, treble the cap on student fees in England, scrap the Defence Training College at St Athan, delay the electrification of the South Wales to Paddington railway line and introduce measures to undermine the NHS in England.
Mr David said that his letter to Mrs David was absolutely genuine and added that he “sincerely hoped” that Kay David would join Labour as Labour is now the only progressive Party in British politics.Follow @CaerphillyObsvr
