Residents across the Caerphilly County Borough can now pay council tax and housing rent at their local Post Office following the introduction of a new payment card scheme.

Previously local people could only pay these bills at council cash offices, but the council has now linked up with the Post Office to offer the new service.

Cllr Colin Mann, deputy leader of council, said: “We want to make our services even more accessible for local people, so we welcome this new initiative which means residents can now pop into their local Post Office to make payments.

“This scheme also allows us to support our community Post Offices and drive more customers through their doors in the future.”

The special payment cards can be issued to residents who make regular payments to the council such as council tax and rents, but other funds can also be paid such as sundry debts, business rates and overpaid housing benefits.
