The Tory candidate for Islwyn has promised not to take the second home allowance if he is elected MP for the area.

Daniel Thomas, from Blackwood, has been selected by the Islwyn Conservative Association as its general election candidate.

Mr Thomas, who works for a building society, said: “I’m honoured to have been chosen to represent the Conservative Party in the forthcoming election and I look forward to promoting policies which will sort out the economy, create jobs and make life more pleasant for Islwyn’s hardworking residents.

“I will be an MP that will think of his constituents first and I’m the only candidate to promise not to claim a ‘second home allowance’, saving the people of Islwyn £20,000 a year.

“Unlike the Labour candidate, I have the full backing of my local party members.

“Labour are in disarray locally and nationally. The sooner we have strong and clear direction with David Cameron as Prime Minister the better.”

I agree Labour have been terrible for Wales. I don’t however see the tories as a viable alternative. The only difference between the two parties is that with the tories you know your going to get shafted!

I for one will not be voting for Labour or the Conservatives

Chris Evans, Labour’s candidate for Islwyn, DOES have the full backing of Islwyn Labour – and will get the full backing of Islwyn voters on May 6th!

Shame that this joker didn’t publicise the fact he is a Barnet councillor in London.
