New library to open in Bargoed

A landmark building in the heart of Bargoed town centre will re-open its doors to the public on Wednesday as a library.
The official opening of Hanbury Chapel will take place on Tuesday with the building – now turned into a modern library – open to the public from Wednesday.
The historic former chapel has been transformed into a new library and council customer service centre.
A new extension has been built at the rear of the building to house a new café and other community facilities. The scheme is the result of a partnership between the council, United Welsh Housing Association, the chapel congregation and The Heads of the Valleys Programme.
The Bargoed library scheme is the first in a series of library developments taking place across the Caerphilly County Borough over the coming months.
Blackwood Library has been closed since the summer for a refurbishment and is due to open at the end of November
The former Palace Cinema in Risca will house state-of-the-art library facilities and a customer services centre, as well as a Tesco Express store. The opening date is expected to be in early December.
A brand new library for Abercarn is progressing well and due to be open early in 2012 while the Newbridge Memo has offered space to the library service.
