Caerphilly Post Offices get cash boost
Post Offices in Llanbradach, Senghenydd and Bargoed’s McDonnell Road office are to get makeovers after successfully applying for improvement grants from the Welsh Assembly.
Llanbradach, Senghenydd and McDonnell Road are three of 41 post offices across Wales to be awarded grants totalling £725,000 from the Post Office Diversification Fund.
Llanbradach is using its money to remove the existing shop front, fit new windows, build a wall and refurbish its interior. Senghenydd will get a new disabled-access shop front and access door, air conditioning, new flooring and an upgrade its plumbing and electrics.
McDonnell Road, in Bargoed, is using the funding for advertising, getting an internet connection, CCTV and a shop front and flooring.
Caerphilly’s Labour AM Jeff Cuthbert said: “I am absolutely delighted that there are three post offices in my constituency which have received substantial funds and that the Caerphilly area is benefiting from the Post Office Diversification fund. Post Offices are at the heart of the community and are often a lifeline for vulnerable people.
“This money will help us to keep Post Offices open by ensuring that sub-postmasters and sub-postmistresses have sustainable and viable businesses.”Follow @CaerphillyObsvr
