Police collecting card scheme launched in Bargoed
Police in Bargoed have launched a new set of collectors’ cards to help local children get to know their local bobby.
Each member of the Bargoed Neighbourhood Policing Team and the local Caerphilly Council Community Safety Warden has their own ‘Know Your Bobby’ trading card showing their picture, name and contact details.
Junior school pupils from Ysgol Bro Sannan, Aberbargoed Primary School, Park Primary School, St Gwladys Primary School, Gilfach Fargoed Primary School and Ysgol Gymraeg Gilfach Fargoed are taking part in the scheme.
Children have been given a collector’s board with three cards to get them started.
They will then need to collect the other cards from Neighbourhood Officers and the Community Safety Warden when they see them patrolling the local area. There will be a new card to collect each week, with 13 cards in total to collect.
The scheme has been funded by the Greater Bargoed Communities First Partnership.
Bargoed PCSO Cath Jones said: “I hope that the school pupils enjoy taking part in the scheme and collecting the cards. We want them to feel confident to approach us if ever they need help, and to also know who their local officer is and how to get in contact with us.”
The Know Your Bobby scheme has previously been run in Blackwood, Caerphilly and
