St Cenydd School pupils get musical
Pupils from Years 7 and 8 have been getting into the groove at St Cenydd School near Trecenydd.
The school organised the afternoon of musical taster sessions which saw them take part in a wide variety of activities.
Pupils got musically creative with a percussion-based exercise using everyday objects found within the classroom, and by coming together to compose lyrics and sing songs during workshops.
Luke Jones, Communities First Development Officer for the Caerphilly Basin said: “Feedback from the sessions was of an excellent standard with students reporting how fun and innovative they found them. They particularly enjoyed discovering new ways to make music and how to express themselves through creative writing and exploration of topics.
“Hopefully we can host further music workshops such as this one in the new academic year, as the levels of enthusiasm on display were fantastic. It was inspiring to see how well pupils engaged with music and how much both pupils and teaching staff enjoyed the event.”
In addition to these workshops, the school were also treated to a concert at the end of the day by singer/songwriter Loren Balaam of Cwmbran.Follow @CaerphillyObsvr
