Caerphilly home to 700 new British citizens in last 10 years
Over 700 people from 65 different countries have become British citizens and made Caerphilly County Borough their home since 2004.
Since citizenship tests and ceremonies were introduced, 717 people have become British citizens in Caerphilly, including 35 in 2014.
Last year new citizens originally came from 18 different countries, namely Bangladesh, China, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Italy, Morocco, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Poland, Romania, Russia South Africa, Thailand, Turkey, USA and Zimbabwe.
Councillor Keith Reynolds, leader of the council, said: “I have had the great pleasure of being invited to attend these citizenship ceremonies, and it has been wonderful to be able to formally welcome these residents to our county borough as they officially become British citizens.”
