Caerphilly Council increases fines for littering and dog fouling
Fines for littering and dog fouling offences will increase to £100 in Caerphilly County Borough from June.
Members of Caerphilly Council’s Cabinet approved the proposals, which will see fixed penalty notices rise from £75.
During 2014/15, 266 fixed penalty notices were issued for littering offences in Caerphilly County Borough
Cllr David Poole, Deputy Leader of Caerphilly County Borough Council, said: “Dog control order and littering offences are very emotive issues for residents across Caerphilly County Borough, and we welcome this increase in the level of fine for fixed penalty notices.
“I would also emphasise that this is certainly not intended as a cash generating exercise. We are simply reacting to public concern and taking action against the small minority of people who commit these offences. We want to reassure our residents that we are taking these matters very seriously.”
The new fixed penalty notices of £100, which can be reduced to £75 if paid within seven days, will come into force from June 1.
